Welcome to the public speaking and presentation workshop that actually works (part 1!). Transform the way you work, pitch, present, and communicate with 6 unique modules. This course brings together the skills we hone in improv and theatre and applies them to a professional context in a safe and encouraging setting. Take the full 6 weeks, or pick and choose the topics that suit you best!

30/10 Authentic Communication
The business world has moved beyond the one-size-fits-all model, and companies and clients alike are looking for your unique voice. Learn how to speak from the heart, connect immediately, and use your personal experiences, opinions, and personality to shape your interactions. Your voice is unique, it’s time to put it front and centre.

6/11 Taking Up Space
The loudest ideas aren’t always the best ones, but they are the ones that get heard. Step off the sidelines and throw yourself into being unapologetically present. We’ll embrace the limelight and learn to feel at home in the hot seat. Let us show you just how much you belong there.

13/11 Connect With Your Audience
The more you know who you are talking to, the more you can connect with them, and the more connection you have, the more you will be heard and remembered. Make an impact when you make a human connection.

20/11 Pitching Perfect
Let’s get down to business. There’s nothing as crucial as the ability to effectively pitch, whether it be an idea, a product, feedback, or the ultimate project - yourself! In this session we’ll be looking at physicality, voice, gesture, tone, and most importantly, confidence.

27/11 Storytelling
In this workshop we will tap into the inherent storyteller within, exploring the logical and emotional progression of narrative storytelling, and how we can build satisfying outcomes together. Using story structures, beats, and presenting techniques, we learn to deliver on what is promised, bringing our audience along for the journey.

4/12 Problem Solver
Put it all together and then add in the mistakes, the unexpected questions, and all the things you can’t plan for. Be flexible enough to deal with whatever comes up and take it all in your stride.

Saturday Night Laughs is high energy improv at its best - a double bill featuring two hilarious improv sets to get your weekend started right! In the first half, some of Barcelona’s finest improvisers create hilarious scenes and sketches in the moment based on their own true stories. Each show features a new cast who are thrown together to explore truth in comedy, and all its possible interpretations.

In the second half, Helix embark on a freeform journey into the unknown. They unfold the spiralling connections between different worlds, some which appear and blink out in an instant and others which last until the end of time. The only thing connecting these twists and turns is a thin strand, spun from one single idea.

Welcome to BIG´s ever-popular Sunday open workshops!

This fun, low-pressure afternoon of games and play is suitable for anyone, from acting hot shots to total newbies. All levels and language abilities are catered for, and the focus is on having fun and giving it a go. Secondary benefits may include improved confidence, stress relief, giggling fits, new friends and spontaneous outbursts of joy!

If you’ve been to one of our shows, and think this improv thing looks like fun (if a little impossible), join us for an open workshop session and see just how fun and possible it can be.

Every session has a different theme and a different instructor with an emphasis on giving it a go, and getting plenty of chances to play. Every Thursday, the workshop instructor will post a note in this event (and in the BIG Improv School Facebook Group) with the week's workshop theme!

IMPORTANT INFO:

• To respect everyone’s time, we ask everyone to arrive between 4:45pm and 4:55pm so that the class may start on time. The doors will be locked at 5:00pm sharp so that the teachers can begin the class. At 5.15pm the doors will open once more, for anyone who has arrived late. Arrival after 5:15pm means you will have to miss the workshop.
• Bookings are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date once you have booked. You may, however, transfer your booking to a friend or another improviser who can attend in your place!
