The SDG Meetup: Countering violent extremism in Africa - Insights

Details
Dear friends,
This month, we are pleased to welcome James Khalil as a guest speaker.
James works as a consultant researcher and a design, monitoring and evaluation (DM&E) specialist on Countering Violent Extremism, deradicalisation and other security related projects in locations such as Egypt, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, South Sudan and Syria.
His expertise in political violence was gained as a coalition force analyst in Iraq and Afghanistan, and as technical lead on various UK Ministry of Defence studies. His doctorate was obtained from the University of Leeds, and it focused on the relationship between the Maoist insurgents and the local population in remote parts of Nepal during the 1996–2006 conflict. James will be focusing his talk on deradicalisation and disengagement programming with Violent Extremists in Africa and share insights from his regular missions to the disengagement programmes. James' talk will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and our traditional networking reception. We look forward to meeting you all!
Warm regards,
Alex
