Public event with ecosystem
As part of the third edition of the Sharing Cities Summit, the Public event with ecosystem will gather all actors of the ecosystem: city governments, companies, foundations, networks, research centres, entrepreneurs. In this event, the Summit Declaration of Sharing Cities will be introduced to the ecosystem and there will be several cocreation and networking activities to engage with it. This event is a Procomuns meet up (meet up in the city dedicated to cocreate public policies), and part of the first Biennial of though: Open City of Barcelona. About Procomuns meet up Barcelona Procomuns MeetUp is a public event of collaborative policies for collaborative economy. Further information about the Sharing Cities Summit Barcelona 2018 The third edition of the Sharing Cities Summit will to take place in Barcelona 12-15 of November 2018. It follows on from the Sharing City Summit held in 2017 in NYC, and in 2016 in Amsterdam. The event will gather together Mayors and Deputy Mayors from leading cities from around the world, and actors of the sharing ecosystem, to discuss how the continuous growth of sharing economies impacts the life and economic development of the cities, and what innovative measures can be taken to meet the challenges and opportunities we face, such as how to differentiate digital platforms which are not constructed on truly collaborative models. This year’s Summit will focus on defining a “Declaration of principles and commitments for a Sharing Cities”, and boosting concrete collaboration between cities. As part of the Sharing Cities Summit, on 12 November a city government encounter and a public event in the evening will take place. On 13, 14 and 15 November, as part of this year Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC18), there will be topic at the congress dedicated to “Inclusive and Shared Cities“. Among those keynote speakers confirmed are Yochai Benkler, Juliet Schor, Rufus Pollock and Muhammad Yunus, among others experts, and Gerardo Pisarello (Deputy Mayor, Barcelona City Council), Alicia Glen (Deputy mayor, NYC), Udo Kock (Deputy Mayor, Amsterdam), Antoinette Guhl (Paris Deputy Mayor), Cristina Tajani (Milan Deputy Mayor). The sharing ecosystem will have its own Sharing pavilion at the SCEWC expo (with already 70 companies, research centers and other actors confirmed, and the 30 cities attending the Summit), acting as a central space holding presentations, debates, round tables and showcasing projects that are part of this new economic model. In addition, the SCEWC with an attendance of over 700 cities,[masked] visitors and 675 exhibitors, along with more than 400 internationally renowned experts and thought leaders, it will be a unique opportunity to reach out to other cities, spread a common message, and share the tangible outcomes of the Summit. Cities participants We are happy to announce that almost 30 cities will participate. The cities of Amsterdam, Athens, Bethlehem, Bilbao, Bogota, Bologna, Buenos Aires, Ghent, Gothenburg, Grenoble, The Hague, Kobe, Madrid, Malmö, Maribor, Melbourne, Milan, Montreal, Montreuil, New York City, Paris, Seoul, Tel Aviv, Toronto, Umeå, Valencia, Vienna, have confirmed their participation, and others are in the final process of confirmation.
