Group policy

You understand, and agree to, the fact that outdoor activities we will engage in such as hiking, climbing, rock scrambling, wilderness backpacking, etc. are inherently risky and you are responsible for your own safety, and that you do not hold this group, its organizers, its event hosts and trip leaders liable for any injury, mishap, or material loss of any sort whatsoever you incur during events. Full disclaimer: http://www.meetup.com.... You will not be allowed to join events until you have thoroughly understood and agree to this in your profile.

Q: Who can be a member and join events?

A: You need to be over 18 and a self-reliant outdoors person to be a member, and participate in events. Minors need to be accompanied by an adult member, and can only join events specified "family friendly" or "kid friendly," or at the discretion of an event host.

Q: What do I need to do to stay a member?

A: You need to lead four events per year to stay a member, and honor all RSVPs you make.

Q: How important is my RSVP? Do you take attendance?

A: Your RSVP is important, period. Even if you RSVP No, it tells us you are involved in the group and also what works and does not for you... to a point (if you RSVP No to every event, maybe this group is not for you). Yes, we take attendance, which is taken into account when it comes to waiting lists. If you are a consistent No Show (RSVP Yes, possibly take away someone else's chance to participate, then not show up), you are a flake. Once, understandable. Twice or more in a row, not so good. More than three No Shows will get you removed from the group.

Q: I’m on the waiting list, what are my chances of participating?

A: Priority will be given to people who have honored their RSVPs and shown respect to other members of this group. For any event for which there is a waiting list, people who have flaked more than twice in a row prior to that event may be bumped to the waiting list, and a person on the waiting list who has honored their RSVPs more consistently may manually be moved to Yes list when a spot opens up.

Q: What are the costs for participating ?

A: Most events are free, unless indicated otherwise. Since Meetup itself charges organizers a hefty fee to run groups in the place, we ask for $1 donation for certain events to help pay for our annual Meetup dues.

Q: What do I need to know/bring to participate in a hike?

A: Please read our Hiking Etiquette and Gear List http://www.meetup.com...

Q: Do you remove and/or permanently ban members? If so, who and why?

A: Yes.

If you behave inappropriately toward another member, verbally, physically or otherwise, you will be removed immediately and then banned from rejoining.

If you crash (not the falling kind, but as-in “crashing a party”) an event without RSVP'ing, you maybe removed. If you bring guest(s) without RSVP'ing for, you will warned, and then maybe removed.

If you pull a No Show three or more times, you maybe removed. If you want to rejoin, you will be charged $20 membership dues for the year.

If you fail to lead four events per year, you will be removed. There will be per-case exceptions.

If you keep signing up for events that are beyond your physical capability or your equipment's, and rely on other members or sweeps to keep waiting for you, you will be warned, and then maybe removed. On every event, you are required to bring your own equipment and everything you need to complete the event. You need to pick events you can handle and keep pace with everyone.

If you are a malcontent and/or a constant whiner who saps energy and drain fun out of the group, you maybe removed.

A prolonged inactivity may get you removed from the group, but you can always rejoin when you are ready to participate again.
