mySociety is a not-for-profit social enterprise, based in the UK and working internationally to build online technologies that give people the power to get things changed.
At this meetup Matt Jukes from mySociety will give a talk on the projects and technologies that they have created including:
FixMyStreet (https://www.fixmystreet.com/) allows members of the community to report problems with public areas on a map. (eg. Potholes, broken streetlights, overflowing bins) These are then fed to the local council who can arrange the correct team to respond and fix the problem.
MapIt (https://mapit.mysociety.org/) is a service that maps UK postcodes and geographical points to administrative areas. It’s useful for anyone who has a postcode or co-ordinates of a point in the UK, and needs to find out what region, constituency, or council it lies within. It’s also great for looking up the shapes of all those boundaries.
