What we're about

Battersea Badminton Club is a well established and friendly club. On Sundays we play competitive badminton using feathered shuttles over three courts between 13:30 and 15:30

Most of our players play in the league for other clubs and use this session for training and practice, as well as the social element. Sessions are competitive, fun, and often loud! We occasionally host tournaments and have training sessions. These are also organised through meetup. Please look out for these and sign up in the usual way.

This is definitely not a club for beginners. If you have been playing for only a few years and need a recommendation then please ask. We would expect anyone wanting to join to have been playing for at least 5 years.

If requesting to join please answer the question regarding how long you have been playing and at what level. If you don't answer we will message you to find this information out and won't approve you to the group until we are convinced that the standard will be right for you. As at January 2020 we are not actively searching for new members as our sessions are full at the moment, but may consider new members of league level and above.

We understand that sometimes plans change and we are fairly flexible with regards people dropping out of sessions they are signed up to, BUT we need to cover our costs and be fair to others on the waiting list who want to play. If you dropout after 11AM on the day of the session we would expect you to still pay the session fee as finding a replacement is not always possible. We believe this is quite reasonable and actually more accommodating than most clubs. Any no shows without even a message to me will result in an automatic ban, but this has never happened yet so please don't be the first.

We go to the pub afterwards. Typically this is either the Asparagus, or the Candlemaker. You will be welcome to join us of course.

Battersea Badminton Club takes no responsibility for loss or damage to person property or injury. You must wear a face mask when you enter the leisure centre and follow their rules. I recommend turning up in your kit and bringing your own water as at the time of writing the changing rooms and canteen are closed and there is no water fountain. I have been told that we may be able to use the showers again from mid June but this has not been confirmed yet.

Normally we go to the Candlemaker pub afterwards. All attending the session are welcome to join. All new players should be aware that the first session they attend is essentially a trial week.
