What we’re about
Bay Area Apache Flink Meetup is for developers interested in and using the open source framework Apache Flink for distributed stream and batch data processing. Learn about Flink, its capabilities and use cases at https://flink.apache.org/flink-architecture.html. This meetup group is a place for you to talk to other developers and share your experiences!
What type of events do we host?
We organize community events featuring use case talks & demos by Flink users and sessions with Flink contributors, committers, and PMC members.
We’re always on the lookout for interesting talk ideas, so please feel free to submit yours: https://airtable.com/shrhqC4OSwG4cgKJf

Session 1: Accelerating AI-Powered Applications to Production: Building IDPs to Amplify Developer Velocity
AI-empowered developers are shipping applications faster than ever but infrastructure is still the bottleneck. While developers can now generate entire application features in minutes using AI tools, provisioning the cloud infrastructure to run those applications often takes days or weeks. How can platform teams build Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that match the velocity of AI-powered development? In this talk, I'll share how to design IDPs specifically optimized for AI-empowered application developers who need to move from idea to production at unprecedented speed. We'll explore how the five essential IDP components: abstractions, blueprints, workflows, security guardrails, and self-service all must evolve to support the new reality of AI-accelerated development cycles.
Speaker: Laci Videmsky, Solutions Architect at PulumiSession 2: Intelligent observability with GitHub Copilot Coding Agent
In this session, we’ll explore how New Relic seamlessly integrates with GitHub Copilot to enhance incident management and alert handling for Site Reliability Engineers (SREs). This powerful integration provides real-time insights into production incidents, offering concise summaries and actionable steps to resolve issues quickly. Additionally, it delivers valuable performance data for each deployment, helping teams stay informed and proactive. By combining GitHub Copilot with New Relic, developers can identify issues faster, streamline workflows, and create a more efficient feedback loop with production-grade systems, ultimately improving the overall developer experience.
Speaker: Jones Zachariah Noel N, Sr Developer Relations Engineer at New RelicSession 3: Real Time Streaming Development: Combining Copilot, Apache Kafka®, and Confluent Cloud for Apache Flink® into one VSCode Extension
We'll be exploring a tool that aims to be a force multiplier for streaming development, including how we added direct augmentations for Copilot to enable deeper contextual AI answers and actions all without leaving one's IDE. In describing what this VSCode Extension does you'll get to explore the interfaces we built and the various ways to use them with and without AI. Overall we'll outline the reasons for developers needing such an interface, showoff what we've built, and demonstrate a success story for gathering user pain points in a domain and solving for them quickly.
Speaker: Matthew Seal, Principal Engineer at Confluent***
