What we're about

You can use your love of board games to do something useful. Help local indie designers and publishers playtest prototype games. Play expansions for some of your favorite games before they release and get some SWAG. For designers, network, test your games and get practical hands on advice. Our goal with this group is to cross-promote with many of the board game groups in the Bay Area to bring designers and play testers together.

Designer's Night at Victory Point Cafe

Victory Point Cafe

Designer's Night at Victory Point Cafe is the first Wednesday of every month! It's an evening for game designers to get their tabletop games played and for gamers to try out what could be the next big game in the works.

This is an open and welcoming event. There is no experience needed as a designer or playtester. We've gotten everything from first time designers with barely playable games to accomplished designers with polished products nearly ready for publishing. We're all here to make our games better and have fun doing it! This is also a great chance to meet local designers in the board game industry and make new friends.

There will be specific tables in the cafe marked for Designer's Night we we'll all be sharing. If you run one of your games, please be courteous also play test others.

Velgus will be acting as unofficial host. Velgus will try to greet everyone as they arrive to welcome them, can give more details, share his experience in the board game industry, introduce you to others, and help you run your game or hop into playing one. Velgus is also continuing his free raffle this month where one lucky attendee will win a $25 Victory Point Cafe giftcard!

This event is free to attend, but we do ask you patronize the cafe during your stay.

If you are bringing a prototype game, try to comment below with a quick blurb including player count and time. For example, "Ticket to Ride is a lightweight game about building train routes. 2-5 players, 30-60 minutes".
