I'm organizing a recital of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin and want to share it!

Franz Schubert's masterpiece Die schöne Müllerin (1824) combines his gorgeous music with the intensely powerful and imaginative poetry of Wihelm Müller. The song cycle tells the story of a journeyman miller who develops a passionate, unrequited love for his master's beautiful daughter. The singer and pianist tell the story from the perspective of both the lovelorn miller and the millbrook which leads him through his emotional journey.

Dory Schultz, tenor, was raised in San Jose, CA, and earned a degree in voice at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied with renowned baritone Vladimir Chernov. He now lives and performs in New York City. Recent appearances include with the Oratorio Society of Queens, Fred Newman's Carmen's Place at the Castillo Theater on 42nd St., and title roles in the world premiers of I, Caligula and Giovanni the Fearless at Symphony Space. Mr. Schultz is a cantor at Eglise Saint Jean Baptiste in Manhattan and is currently pursuing an advanced degree at the Manhattan School of Music. www.doryschultz.com

Veronika Agranov-Dafoe, pianist, was born and raised in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Russia, and first studied piano performance at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and The Leningrad Conservatory of Music. She immigrated to the United States in 1992 and earned a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory in 1994. While working on her degree, Ms. Agranov-Dafoe became the choir accompanist and the soloist for Palo Alto Unitarian Church, as well as the rehearsal pianist for West Bay Opera. In 2000 she joined the SJSU Opera Workshop as a coach and pianist and two years later started working at Opera San Jose. Ms. Agranov-Dafoe is now the Head of Music Staff at Opera San Jose.

I enjoy all types of classical music, but vocal performances are my favorite, esp. opera.
