BAGH returns to the historic San Leandro Train Depot!

If anything proves that traveling can lead to strong emotions, it's the old train depot in San Leandro. Despite having moved from its original location in 1988, it also provides some confirmation that the most common objects ghosts attach themselves to are buildings—not necessarily land. When the depot moved to its Thrasher Park location, the San Leandro Historical Railway Society has noticed it has paranormal activity.

The depot was originally built by Southern Pacific Railroad in 1898 to replace one erected by Central Pacific in 1865. Men working any railroad had to remain alert and use all their strength to do their duties. The fatal accidents that occurred while working the railways were more numerous than anyone cared to think. When George Westinghouse designed the automatic air brakes for trains in 1872, it drastically reduced the risks that brakemen took. The San Leandro depot was used for both commercial purposes and as a passenger terminal before World War II, when it was closed as "non-essential." After the war, switch crews took their brakes there until the 1960s.

The known astral residents include an angry property owner who lost his home to eminent domain. His anger was enough to be interesting without being dangerous. A Pinkerton agent is still traveling the railways to solve his case. A couple of little boys also contribute to the station's paranormal activity.

During past investigations, BAGH members have heard unexplained footsteps and voices, as well as collected EVPs. It is believed that one of the boys tugs on people's clothes. Returning to locations BAGH has been to before allows the astrals to become better acquainted and more comfortable with us. Lead Investigator Stacy Meyn said she has had some of her most active investigations there with us. In November 2017, three psychics participated. The audio, video and psychic results amazingly corroborated each other.

Stacy will lead 6–8 BAGH members at this location from 6:45–11 p.m. This is an ideal opportunity for either experienced or rookie ghost hunters. Some gear will be provided, but members can also bring their own. Do not forget to bring a flashlight. Cell phones have also been known to capture evidence.

Other things to keep in mind: wear quiet shoes (avoid flip flops, Uggs and hard-soled shoes), no noisy clothes, ensure pockets aren't loaded with loose keys and coins, and wear nothing that might be reflective. Please take any precautions necessary to avoid bodily noises; incidents of grumbling tummies, coughing, belching, et al. can interfere with any captures and need to be noted when they happen to avoid confusion.

The $45.00 rsvp fee gives us access to the building and a donation to the San Leandro Historic Railway Society. No guests. Members must be 14 years of age or older. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Feel free to bring snacks and water. Thrasher Park has free parking,
