What we're about

This group if for families who are interested in good old fashioned out door fun - hiking, camping, backpacking, etc... We will meet up for some kid-friendly hikes around the bay area. We get together for a camping and/or backpacking trip during the year.

I started this group because my partner and I love the outdoors; hiking, camping and backpacking. After we had our son, Jamie (now 7), we found it challenging to get back out there - but knew that outdoor adventure would always be apart of our lives. We now have two sons, Jamie (7) and Jackie (new). It was important to us that our kids grow up knowing and loving the outdoors, going on hikes and camping trips. I'm sure there are others who share the same love and challenges.

• When do I take my child on the first camping trip?

• How far is too far of a hike for a 3 year old?

• What snacks to I need to pack for my child an myself on a hike?

• When can I sit by the campfire and just enjoy a beer without fear that a bear will eat my child?

I love planning outdoor adventures small and large - some might go as far as to call me a planning geek. I look forward to planning our next adventure with you. Members are encouraged to plan and lead hikes too. Please let me know if you are interested in a particular trail or campsite.
