Douglas Bereuter, who served 26 years in Congress and later was the President of the Asia Foundation, will lecture on the topic, "Can the World Feed 9 Billion People? A Global Agricultural Development Initiative." After the lecture, there will be a reception with Congressman Bereuter.

Congressman Bereuter will address critical issues such as global poverty, food production, and sustainability. In Congress, Bereuter served as a member of the House Select Committee on Hunger for its entire period of existence, and was well-known for his for global hunger and agriculture initiatives. He also served as Vice Chairman of the House International Relations Committee. At the Asia Foundation, he oversaw a six-year period of growth. He is now serving as a Matsui Lecturer at UC-Berkeley.
