This group is exclusively for families and is all about cultivating a setting in which our kids, of all ages - toddlers to teens - get together for enriching, memorable experiences that can only be had by experiencing the changing landscape as we travel together to our next destination in nature, sharing the arrival, the campfires and rivers, and our next departure.
This is not a group for people who want to stay up and party and / or meet singles, etc. It is primarily for families *with* children who prefer a healthy lifestyle including healthy eating, hiking, nature, and conversation on a wide range of topics.
Please no amplified music including stereos while in a group setting.
We can have in-person, local meetings in a public place for initial screenings, which can happen monthly or as needed.
We will be exploring remote areas away from busy, noisy campgrounds, paved roads, and amenities - including toilets, electricity, and running water - just the way I like it!
Members must be bear-aware as we will be visiting bear country frequently. If you’re not sure what that means, please educate yourself!
Travel will be largely vehicle dependent as this group is all about accessing far away places throughout the greater Southwest and Pacific regions, though I'm sure the majority of our trips will be within several hours driving time of the Bay Area. Vehicles must be high-clearance and reliable, preferably four-wheel or all-wheel-drive. That said, ditching the machines at a trail head and backpacking into the wilderness with topo maps and a compass is well within the scope of this group's activities. Some proficiency with GPS devices and Google Earth will be helpful but not required. P
I’ll schedule a meet and greet when enough people have joined to make it successful. So, let's introduce ourselves, plan some trips and have some family fun!
