Bring your finished sewing projects and your WIPs (works in progress) to show other members and to get advice and tips from other members. It's a great time to find out how someone else would solve a particular problem or issue.
We'll be meeting at Hello Stitch (https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/), a sewing studio that just opened up in Berkeley. It'll be a chance for you to check out the space, which has plenty of tables, new and vintage sewing machines and a long-arm quilter.
Hello Stitch also offers sewing and quilting classes. Our very own Bay Area Sewists member Beth Galvin is teaching garment sewing there (tunic class (https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/product-page/basics-tunic-top-class-may-13-20-10am-1pm-or-july-15-22-2pm-5pm) in May and July, skirt class (https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/product-page/basics-skirt-class-may-13-20-2-5pm-or-july-15-22-10am-1pm) in May or July, dress class (https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/product-page/basics-shift-dress-class-june-4-11-12-30-4-30pm) in June, Fit Lab (https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/product-page/fit-lab-june-17-10-5pm) in June.) Check out the full class list here (https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/allclassesandevents).
UPDATE: We will be raffling TWO $25 day passes to Hello Stitch at this meetup. All attendees who have not won a giveaway over the past year can enter. Thank you Hello Stitch for the giveaway!
There is a $5 fee for this event because we are renting the space for our meetup. NOTE: This fee is nonrefundable.
All Bay Area Sewists members get a 20 percent discount at Stonemountain & Daughter Fabric (http://www.stonemountainfabric.com/) on our Berkeley meetup days. Feel free to stop by the store before or after the meetup. Saturday store hours: 10 am to 6 pm.
Parking and public transportation
There is metered street parking on University Ave. You can also try side streets for free parking. The closet parking lots are around Shattuck and Center in downtown Berkeley.
Hello Stitch is about an 11-minute walk from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Walk up Shattuck and make a left on University. It's about five blocks down University (about two blocks from Trader Joe's).
