Abstracts & Bios:
"Using Machine Learning to Improve Products as They Scale," Karmel Allison
Karmel Allison is an Engineering Manager at Quora, where she leads the Core Product and Quality team. She has spent the last decade working with big data and machine learning. She received her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of California, San Diego, and previously worked to design algorithms for DNA sequencing.
"Experiments gone wrong: avoiding common A/B testing pitfalls," Paula Griffin
Paula Griffin is the Product Manager for content quality at Quora. Previously, she worked as the Data Scientist responsible for Quora's A/B testing framework. She holds a PhD in Biostatistics from Boston University.
"Semantic Question Matching at Quora," Lili Jiang
Lili is a Data Science Manager at Quora. Her team focuses on feed recommendation and new user growth. Prior to Quora, she graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Physics.
"Network Effects in Experimentation at Quora," Olivia Angiuli
Olivia Angiuli has been a Data Scientist at Quora for a year and a half, where she works primarily on understanding usage and engagement patterns of Quora users on feed. She is also interested in data privacy and anonymization, a field in which she has published two papers. Olivia graduated with a joint degree in Statistics and Computer Science from Harvard.
