What we're about
High performance computing (HPC) connotes science and engineering applications running on supercomputers. One imagines tightly coupled, latency sensitive, jitter-senstive applications in this space. On the other hand, cloud platforms create the promise of computation on demand, with a flexible infrastructure, and pay-as-you-go cost structure. Can the two really meet? Is it the case that only a subset of CSE applications can run on this platform? Can HPC be offered using cloud model as I/P/S/HPC aaS.
This meetup will not only discuss above question but also go beyond those to see how the two fields can marry - how HPC can benefit from traditional and emerging cloud technologies like containers, and how clouds can be more performance efficient learning lessons from clouds. What does it mean for academia and industry?
Looking to start 1st meetup in 2017, if you have a location and can host the meetup or if you would like to speak and have some topics, please message/comment. Let us get moving together.
