Storage Technology Algorithm Breakthroughs of the past Decade

Details

Storage technology systems have evolved over time with innovative companies utilizing advanced mathematics. A significant number of novel algorithms had to be developed in the process. Many of these offer enormous practical benefits, both in high-scale cloud storage, but also in much smaller environments. Many of these algorithms, while proven mathematically to work, remain at the forefront of research, and have yet to be brought to production as commercial offerings. This talk will delve into my experience with these technologies and inventions during my career.

Jason Resch has over 15 years of experience in storage engineering, software development, and cryptography. He has presented at the Storage Developer Conference, ACM, Usenix, and NIST on storage and security topics. During his career at Cleversafe and IBM, he attained over 900 patents on areas of algorithms, security, and scalable storage technology, inventing quantum-secure protocols and algorithms. He maintains open source projects for threshold cryptography and cryptocurrency, and runs the big-questions website https://alwaysasking.com.

BayLISA meetings are scheduled for 7:00pm on the third Thursday of each month.

BayLISA includes system and network administrators across a range of skill levels. BayLISA meets to discuss topics of interest to system administrators and managers. The meetings are free and open to the public.

We always welcome presentation topics and volunteer speakers. Use the "Contact us" link on this page to get in touch with BayLISA's directors.
