Next Meetup

Hey BWC, I am very excited to announce our quarterly "Reading" night for all BWC members at The English Tea Room in Covington. This is a private event for The Bayou Writer's Club (and friends) where we can socialize and share larger pieces of work than time allows during regular meetings. We've all shared information about our writer's group with friends and family, and this is the perfect venue to invite them to come and enjoy some of our writing! The English Tea Room supports the arts and is opening their doors Thursday evening just for us! It's an enchanting place with a comfortable atmosphere and is perfect for an intimate reading night. This is a free event, but please help me support them by ordering dinner and/or dessert. We'll have a donation box at the door to help offset our club costs for Meet-Up, but this is optional. Please start planning now to bring something in, around 2,000- 2,500 words or less. Practice your reading and try to keep your time around ten to fifteen minutes. RSVP, as soon as possible, if you plan on attending. Don't forget to add your plus one (or more) for guests. The event will close for RSVP's once we reach thirty-five. We usually fill the restaurant!!! All writing is welcome, poetry, short story, memoir, pages from your novel, etc. with the extra time you'll have the opportunity to "set the scene" if you need to explain a setting. New members and members that have never read before are especially encouraged to participate! To make this a successful event, we need you! (and your work!) Please email me ASAP if you would like to read so that I may set an itinerary. We have a limited number of spaces for readers. (8 READERS AND 2 ALTERNATES) I will need to get a copy of what you'll be sharing (via email) no later than Monday- October 22nd. NOTE the start time for the event is 6:30, this is so you may arrive early and order food, get seated, etc. I understand that many of you are coming from work and cannot get to Covington quite that early. No worries. Come as soon as you can and, of course; you can order dinner at any time. We will begin readings promptly at 7:00. It is sure to be another spectacular event! Until then, Happy Writing. -L

    What we're about

Let’s get together for inspiration and encouragement to create written works of art. All writers are welcome. The BWC's purpose is to help writers take great ideas and manifest those into written work. We discuss every aspect of writing from how to create your first novel, poem, script or short story to the differences between on demand and traditional publishing. This is your group to discuss successful products and tools for the changing literary industry. Meetups will be at local North Shore (primary) and South Shore businesses.
