Multinational doesn't have to be corporate.

While all think of multinational as large corporations branching beyond ones borders, there are plenty of individuals that are multinational, living globally connected lives in sustainable ways. These are the stories and lives we want to bring forth.

Be Multinational was inspired by Jeff Bochsler's 2011 sabbatical from Bank of America. He was granted a leave of absence for personal travel by the bank, which surprised him more than anyone. "I was expecting to have to quit."

During 4 months he studied the Brazilian economy, interviewed microlenders for in Cusco, Peru, volunteered on a monkey reserve in Ecuador, and got his PADI Scuba Diving license in Columbia.

He is now back to work. We don't have to wait until we're retired to travel and see the world, nor do we have to worry about travel (if done right) setting back our careers.

Recent studies prove those that spend extended time abroad have greater levels of creativity. This is believed to be the result of learning a new language and/or cultural perspective. Time abroad will sharpen many skills that others don't have. You see opportunities upon return that others don't see. You start to think like an entrepreneur.

If you are looking for ways to live a life more globally connected, whether while at home in Santa Barbara or while working and/or traveling the world, this is the group for you. We will share international connections. We will eat international cuisine. We will offer advice on how to stay connected and best plays to travel next.

Travel safe and well.
