Beer Necessities is an all-inclusive, empowering and supportive group of women and non-binary individuals in the Seattle-King County area who love to drink beer and/or are in the beer industry.
We attend local beer events and festivals, share employment opportunities in the beer world, bond over our love for beer, and just have fun. All ages 21 - 101 are welcome! :)
Mission: Give beer-loving women (drinkers, brewers, bartenders) an opportunity to meet other beer-loving women & share some good brews and stories in the process. Only a love of beer is required, not any level of beer knowledge. We'll learn and drink together!
• All BN events are women only, unless specifically noted. These events may be titled, "Let's Crash..." "Let's Crash" titled events means we are crashing a public event like beer festivals, and male friends / significant others / non-members are welcome to join as guests. All other events are Women Only (sorrynotsorry boys).

Back story: Sarah Eshelman founded Beer Necessities in Austin, TX in September 2014, a spinoff of her friend's group in Chicago. BN-Austin grew to over 2000 members with weekly events at bars & breweries all over Austin. They had a ton of fun, drank so much delicious beer, and made wonderful female friendships along the way. The group is still going strong, even after Sarah moved to WA and started BN-Seattle in September 2016. Since then, there have been groups started in Dallas, Portland, and Philadelphia!

Beer Necessities Heads West!

Beer Star is the first of two Beer Stars established along the I-5 corridor (the other in Tacoma). Join other BN members for a relaxing Sunday in a beautiful large taproom serving 48 beers, wines, and ciders. Fill growlers or take home a bottle of beer, wine, or cider from their large beverage cooler. Family and dog friendly with a large outdoor deck.

Significant others and BFFs are welcome to join Beer Necessities members at this year's Fremont Oktoberfest for a shenanigan-filled Saturday consisting of 100+ craft beers, delicious food, and lively entertainment. This iconic event returns with seasonal brews to sample, featuring local favorites, and unique flavors from around the globe. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or just looking for a fun outing with friends, Fremont Oktoberfest promises an unforgettable experience with live music, games, and activities for all ages.
Tickets are on sale now so buy your ticket before it's too late. Beer Necessities will be attending the Saturday, 9/19 session that begins at 12pm, and your Meetup host is Kearsten!

Beer Necessities Celebrates 10 Years of Meetups!
Stoup Brewing - Capitol Hill, 1158 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122, USA, Seattle, WA, USIn the late afternoon of September 13, 2016, a small group of women gathered in the former location of Pike Brewing in Pike Place Market to meet other beer drinking women in the hopes of making new friends. The following November in 2017, Stoup Brewing in Ballard and brewery co-owner Robyn Schumacher hosted our first anniversary meetup. Ten years and multiple meetups later, Beer Necessities Seattle is now a well-known group within the local beer scene, touting more than 1,400 female and non-binary members between our Meetup and Facebook groups combined.
Even though Stoup's Capitol Hill location wasn't around 10 years ago, Stoup has been a huge supporter of the Meetup group since the beginning. Come celebrate our 10th birthday at a local favorite beer stop, reunite with old beer-drinking friends, and meet new ones! While we will have a table reserved for our group from 12-2pm, seating is first-come, first-served.
