Beer and Philosophy 90 (online)
Details
Join us for intellectually stimulating conversation.
NB: You don't need to consider yourself a "philosopher" (and you certainly don't need to have formally studied philosophy) to come out. I hold a very broad definition of philosophy ("the love of wisdom"), and welcome anyone who is prepared to be polite and have their beliefs questioned.
The starting theme for this event shall be:
==============================
Empathy.
It's often suggested that more empathy would improve our global society. Is this true? What are the components of empathy? How important is it to societal flourishing? Is empathy subjective or objective? Is it necessary in order to "do good?" Is empathy a learnable skill or otherwise amenable to being increased?
==============================
Hosted on the 4th Friday of every month (with some scheduling changes for e.g. holidays).
Peace,
Laval
