Burning Issues Book Club - "This Changes Everything" by Naomi Klein

Welcome to the Burning Issues Book Club, founded by @renatebakes! This book club has been formed to help facilitate our education on important topics facing humanity. Humans have historically been (and continue to be) horrible to each other, to our home, and to the other organisms that share this planet with us. We know things need to change, but many people aren’t sure where to start. This book club is a place for learning and personal growth within a safe online community to help us navigate and implement positive social change in the real world.

Our August book is "This Changes Everything" by Naomi Klein. In "This Changes Everything," Naomi Klein argues that climate change isn’t just another issue to be neatly filed between taxes and health care. It’s an alarm that calls us to fix an economic system that is already failing us in many ways. Klein meticulously builds the case for how massively reducing our greenhouse emissions is our best chance to simultaneously reduce gaping inequalities, re-imagine our broken democracies, and rebuild our gutted local economies.
