August Meetup, Talks and Kata!

This month we have the following short talk at the start of the evening followed by a coding challenge.
Talk:
"R: An introduction and overview" by Dr Colin S Gillespie
The R project was conceived in 1992, and while initially an academic interest, it has become the language of choice for data scientists. This talk will discuss the background of the language, the rich package infrastructure and it's strengths (and weaknesses).

Dr Colin S Gillespie who has delivered R training in specialist conferences across the world such as useR & Strata & Hadoop. He is also a regular training consultant at the Royal Statistical Society. And has recently published Efficient R Programming.
Kata:
This will be followed by a Coding Challenge (Kata) in the functional programming Language of your choice. At the end of the evening people are invited to share / present their solutions (if they wish) so we can all learn from each other!
