# Talks
This month we welcome up Tom Prior, from the Cork Functional Programming Meetup, who will be speaking on F#!
F# Exploration
This session will take you on a journey to explore the beauty and pragmatism of F#. We'll cover the fundamentals of the F# type
system and how it enables capability-based design and making illegal states unrepresentable. F#'s functional first approach will be shown along with its functional data structures and transformations but we'll also look at its OO capabilities.
This aims to be a hands on session and attendees are encouraged to set up F# on the OS of their choice so that we can all try out
a kata or two in F# also.

About Tom Prior
Tom is a software geek who loves functional programming in F#. He has been a full-time software developer for 7 years.
Having been in JVM land for most of his career, he made the jump over to. Net having been won over by the beauty of F#.
He now codes in F# full-time on both the client side (using Fable and Websharper to compile F# to Javascript) and server side.

After the talk, we will hack on a small programming problem, and volunteers will share their solutions.

After the meet-up we will head to the WoodWorkers to continue the chat and have a few drinks.
