Movie Night: This Island Earth (1955): Based on the Book by Raymond F. Jones

• What we'll do
The world in the 1950s to 1970s did not yet know the real limits of physics as so much as so new to scientists and the world: from the splitting of the atom to fantasies of robots and space travel by nuclear power. There was this childish imagination in the 1950s that really captures my spirit: a spirit that the world needs to find again. I made this community to relive that feeling with people by watching films from that period, and see science and possibilities through the lens they saw them back then: perhaps in turn finding some of it once again in the present.
