Topic: An Intro to Hacking on MicroControllers with JavaScript, Web Tools, and the Resources to Help

Description: Hardware Hacking is fun activity to bridge the virtual and physical world. Lights, sensor, motors, servos, and drones can all be connected with various microcontrollers for basic and complex uses. The phrase Internet of Things (IOT) gets thrown around a lot these days, and there are even a whole new job market for it. This is the entry-entry-level of IOT. I'll introduce you to a variety of controllers (and I'll bring some along) and open you to the endless void of parts you can buy to try out basic ideas. I'll show some simple examples of blinking lights, servos moving, and talk about how I learned about hardware hacking.

Todd Gandee
I started using computers in 80s. My graphic arts education brought me joy in high school. I continued to work in/with computers in college getting a communications degree. I learned video editing while working at the alumni association. I graduated during the 2000s dotcom bust. I've been a Flash developer, web consultant, instructor, author, and I've delivered pizzas all over Atlanta. Currently, I'm a senior software engineer at Mailchimp, hoping to improve the tech culture everyday.
