Upcoming events (4+)
Hardware, Repair and SoftWEAR Hacking Tuesdays
Join us at sudoroom Tuesday evenings for Hardware, Repair and SoftWEAR Hacking Nite. Bring your project to work on or help others with their projects.
Repair: Bring your broken, non-functioning things – electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, etc.– for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. First-time repairers and “Fixing Families” are heartily encouraged to attend.
SoftWEAR hacking too: most Tuesday evenings the Omni Commons Sewing Lab is also active for textile projects and technical repairs, we’ve got many different types of sewing machines available including heavy duty and serger sewing machines. You’re also welcome to bring your own machine to have it checked out and tuned up or to just sew alongside others.
If you can't make it in person: join the jitsi video chat through https://meet.waag.org/turtlesturtlesturtles
Hope to see you there!
Other ongoing Repair Events:
Every 3rd Friday of the month: USA-CA-Oakland Circuit Launch Build Night:
https://www.meetup.com/circuit-launch/
Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the Month: Ace Makerspace Electronics Night:
https://www.meetup.com/ace-makerspace/
ALSO: Repair Virtually Through Discord: You're also heartily invited to get help with repair (or give help) through the online Global Fixers Server on Discord; that’s turned into a great resource for knowledge sharing and training amongst repairers where they can broaden skills, share skills, cross-train, and bring items they can't repair on their own (“stumpers").
To have your broken item looked at by the global network of community repairers register at http://bit.ly/fixitcheckin; select “Repair via the Global Fixers Server..." from the pulldown menu and complete the rest of the form to start the on-boarding process.

(This is cross-promotion of Circuit Launch’s 3rd Friday of the Month Build Nights that are also scheduled on Meetup here: https://www.meetup.com/circuit-launch/events/, These have turned into informal Circuit Launch drop-in open house evenings with a wide assortment of interesting activities.)
Open to everyone, fun for the whole family! Join us at Circuit Launch every third Friday evening of the month for a trifecta of awesomeness:
– Robot and Electronics projects,
– Sewing and fabric and textile repair,
– General Repair.
Robot and Electronics projects: Bring a project or discover one here: we
provide the space, tools and peer learning - you bring your project and enthusiasm!
Sewing: Learn to do simple mending or get help with technical fabric and textile projects. In addition to regular machines our Sewing Lab features heavy-duty industrial sewing machines and sergers. Our mentor CC has worked for Tesla and SuitX and has vast sewing machine repair and maintenance experience; or bring your own machine to tune up for tip-top operation and sew alongside others.
General Repair: Bring your broken, non-functioning things – electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, sewing machines, fabric items, etc.– for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. First-time repairers and “Fixing Families” are heartily encouraged to attend. (Bringing something to try to fix? Check it in here: https://bit.ly/itemcheckin)
– U18s heartily welcome with a participating adult.
– Equipment use outside of the soldering and debugging gear requires
Certification or a Certified Circuit Launch member willing to help.
– NOTE: Masks may be required for all who attend as per current Alameda County Indoor mask mandates.
Attend Virtually: During the pandemic we fell in love with collaborative work sessions with mixed in-person and virtual peeps! Point a webcam at your workbench or stream your screen, come work on projects with us wherever you are in the world! Join us virtually through our Discord Server (https://discord.gg/dx2PYa5gPY). (Send us a message ahead of time if you are joining virtually so we know to set up the portal.)
Looking forward to seeing you at Circuit Launch!
