Raw, Organic Dinner at Cafe Gratitude

[NOTE: Due to a plumbing emergency, Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley will be closed for a week, which required that I reschedule this Meetup. The new date is Tuesday, August 26th.] Hi all, Since it scored the highest rating on the poll (you have voted in the
poll, right? :-) ), our next dinner will be at Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley. This small chain (the other locations are two in San Francisco and another in San Rafael) serves up an extensive menu of delicious raw, organic dishes with names such as "I am cool" (a fantastic mint chocolate shake) and "I am elated" (their enchilada of the day). The desserts are amazing. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic. They seem to truly
enjoy singing to patrons celebrating birthdays! So come enjoy a summertime dinner that didn't require heating an oven. We'll split the bill afterward. NOTE: I'd like to keep our meetups small enough for everyone to be cozy and to share in the conversation, so space is limited. In consideration of your fellow diners, please RSVP only if you're sure you can come so you don't prevent someone else from attending. And if something comes up, please come back here and change your RSVP. (Thanks to those who have.) Also, if you want to come but the event is full, check back right before the event--a spot often will have opened up for you!

The food is always good yet be prepared for small portions and higher prices because the preparation takes a lot of loving labor. Ambience is comfortable. The group acted like it had a good time. I had worthwhile conversations and enjoyed it.

This was fun! There was a good spectrum of folks from admitted non-vegans to ultra-activists. :) The food was good, and the service was friendly. The price was a bit high, but I'd return here.

Niiiice! A little high for 'all the time' eating out- but great for once in awhile. The PEOPLE were the best part. I went home laughing :9 and thinkin' good thoughts

I love Cafe Gratitude. I've been there several times over the last few years, both in San Rafael and Berkeley, and I've never been disappointed in the food. It is true that the prices have gone up, but they've gone up everywhere. To me, the labor involved in producing such high-quality and in most cases elaborate food is worth the prices they charge.

I think (hope!) every had a good time and enjoyed the food. Our waiter was lively, as is typical for Cafe Gratitude staff.
