Power BI Composite Models - Lessons Learned

Details

Hi Power BI enthusiasts,

for April, we're happy to announce a talk from Artur König, one of the co-organizers of this group.

Since December 2020, the truly game changing feature "Composite Models" (Direct Query für Azure Analysis Services) is available in preview for Power BI.

The possibilities of this feature will deeply change the modeling in Power BI by helping to improve complex models and to get rid of inefficient "fits-it-all"-models that had to be used before, when the data preparation of several unstructured data sources had to be done in Power Query.

In this session, Artur will show his first steps and learnings from the practical use of this new feature in several use-cases:

  • consolidation of similar models
  • combination of different models
  • dimensions across several models
  • calculations (measures) across several models
  • effects on time logic
  • effects on calculation groups

As usual, we'll use a live demo for this and you can bring your own use-cases and questions, if you want.

Talk starts at 7 PM CEST (UTC+2) via MS Teams.

Until then, stay safe and keep CALCULATEing on!
