Talks and Networking for Designers #22

Talks:

1. "Starting UX in FlixBus" by Luky Primadani @Flixbus.
   A journey to integrate user-centric approach into the product development within the organisation

Abstract: Integrating user-centric approach into the product development where UX process is overlooked, sounded like a challenging journey. By that time, I realised being a UX Designer within this environment requires extra effort to advocate for users insights. Thus, I tried to proactively initiate collaboration between teams and demonstrate the value of having a respected UX process to my peers and the management. This journey started with some baby steps to move FlixBus away from its status quo. Is the change happening? And where would this journey lead us to? Through this talk, I will share some challenges of starting UX processes in FlixBus and how to tackle them with a strategy that could fit into the fast-paced product development.

Bio: Luky is Indonesian and formerly, a visual designer with nearly 8 years career experience in various industries; from advertising & graphic design agency to tech companies. She started her digital career right after she moved to Berlin in 2014 and joined some tech startups ranging from car marketplace to SAAS. Currently, she's in the pursuit of her passion in the mobility business with FlixBus and decided to shift her focus from visual design into User Experience Design.

2. "The Mechanics Of Getting A Great Design Job" by Andree Huk, @Blended.io

Abstract: Job hunting can be tiring and exhausting. But it does not need to be. In fact, it is quite easy to stand out and ease the way. Throughout the past 3 years at blended.io Andree received 200+ applications for engineering and design positions. A very small percentage of applicants go the extra mile. Andree will show how you also could. Based on his experience at blended.io as well as his own job hunt in Silicon Valley, he will go into the mechanics of being a stellar candidate and how to approach your hunt from a tactical and process point of view.

Bio: Andree worked with Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom Innovation as well as a handful of startups (e.g. moviepilot.com) before moving to Spain. In Barcelona he joined the messaging startup Upptalk as UX & Product lead before founding the software engineering and experience design agency blended.io which focuses on highly-interactive applications for investment boutiques, fintechs and industrie 4.0 companies. At blended.io, he goes the extra mile to provide as much value for his clients as possible.
