Joint online meetup with WiMLDS Paris
Details
We are happy to announce a special joint online meetup with our friends from the Paris WiMLDS chapter!
As with our previous online meetup a Zoom link will be provided prior to the meetup by direct message for those who RSVP this event. We will also close RSVPs at 12 noon of 22 April to allow us to manage the attendees and ensure everyone receives the Zoom link. Please ensure your meetup is set up to receive messages.
Given the last minute nature of this event we are still to confirm a speaker from Berlin. Does anyone in our community have something they wish to talk about? Please email us (berlin at wimlds dot org) if you are interested in presenting a talk at this event or in the future.
AGENDA:
19:00 – Introduction by the Berlin & Paris WiMLDS teams
19:10 – “Accelerating SARS-COv2 Molecular Dynamics Studies with Optical Random Features” by Amélie Chatelain, Machine learning engineer @ LightOn
Abstract: Viruses -- or more generally, biomolecular systems -- are made of atoms which constantly fluctuate. However, they can occasionally undergo large-scale structural variations, called conformational changes. We explore detecting online these transitions in numerical simulations: this is a key to analyse and improve on drug discovery and design.
19:40 – "Cluster-free identification of informative features in single-cell omics data" by Anna Vlot, Doctoral Researcher at the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology
Abstract: The development of single cell omics methods provides researchers with large sources of data to investigate the development of cell identity. Current methods to identify informative features of cell identity commonly rely on clustering groups of similar cells. In this presentation I will present a method which enables identification of biologically informative features without reliance on previous clustering.
20:10 – Quick interactive session

During the event, you can share content using #WiMLDSParis, @WiMLDS_Paris & @WiMLDS_Berlin
After the meet-up, all the slides will be available on the Paris WiMLDS Medium page : https://medium.com/@WiMLDS_Paris
