Betanomics is a community driven initiative formed by #FinTech startup founders - where we are able to share skills and experiences whilst learning about new techniques and applications from those in the trenches who are working with blockchains, distributed ledger technologies and other innovative solutions that are decentralizing finance.

With the launch of NextBank KL, and StartupBootcamp’s first foray into Malaysia with RHB, not to mention the massive role Maybank is playing in the FinTech space - we couldn’t find a better time to launch the Betanomics community. Nonetheless, we don’t want to be just another Bitcoin meetup or competing with the financial technology audiences. Betanomics is a little more complex than that, but rightly so, for our very understanding (or lack thereof) with economics and monetary policies and the their geo-bound politics is something that some people believe should not be controlled by central authorities.

The Betanomics Flipboard magazine has been curating news on distributed ledger technologies and decentralized finance, but this is only one area that the Betanomics community will be exploring, and will be doing so with hands-on technical workshops in which we build our own decentralized forms of governance. However, to understand the future we must also observe and interact with the past. With what’s real. The issues that are hidden in plain view. What’s quantitative easing and how does inflation work? How can we use practical commodities such as Silver or Thorium as stores of wealth? How can we exploit the distributed business models brought to the masses by companies like Uber and AirBnB?

Betanomics meetups will be broken down into three distinct categories:

-- The Technology - Learn by building upon the blockchains together
-- The Business - Learn from funded blockchain businesses
-- The Reality - Learn about the systems currently using us

Come for just one of the sessions or all three, it’s really up to you.

Please note that we will be limiting and moderating attendance to ensure that we are able to maintain an intimate environment where everyone is able to feel as though they have an equal voice.
