What we're about

bib·li·o·phile ( bĭb 'lē-ə-fīl ' ) - A lover of books. Dubai Bibliophiles is the book club open to all who enjoy reading and discussing books and meeting new people.

WHO ARE WE? A group of cultivated minds (male and female!) from all walks of life, sharing our passion for books.

WHY A BOOK CLUB? How many times have you watched a movie or a sports game and chocked up with words for days because there was NOBODY to talk to about it?! Well that’s why we meet in this book club – to share our opinions, observations and thoughts provoked by the books we read.

WHAT BOOKS WE DO WE READ? Out of a multitude of genres, we focus primarily (but not exclusively) on modern fiction with a side of non-fiction. As club members democratically choose the books we are open to any book as long as members vote for it. Here's the link to our reading list (books we read in past): http://www.meetup.com/Bibliophiles-Dubai-Book-Club/pages/Reading_list/

LANGUAGE: We discuss the books that are available in English (either translated to English from original language or written in English). The discussions during meetups are conducted in English. Members are welcome to read the books in other languages they are familiar with but in order for all of us to understand each other the discussions are in English only. :)

WHEN DO WE MEET? The meetups are at 6.30 pm every third Saturday (3 weeks between each session). The average session takes about 2 hours; it also depends on the number of people attending and how discussion-inspiring the book is.

Venue: Lime Tree Cafe on SZR (by FAB metro station). It is short walking distance from FAB metro station, there is ample parking (paid, on the street), great coffee and nice food, and most importantly, it is relatively quiet on Saturday evenings. Google maps location of Lime Tree Cafe: https://goo.gl/maps/mBMii7R6HxK2 Our summer (July and August) meetups usually take place in a different cafe as the Lime Tree cafe has shorter summer hours. Our 2018 and 2019 summer base was 21Grams Bistro, but it's best to check the event description you want to attend.
