What we're about

bib·li·o·phile ( bĭb 'lē-ə-fīl ' ) - A lover of books. Dubai Bibliophiles is the book club open to all who enjoy reading and discussing books and meeting new people.

Who we are:

A group of cultivated minds (male and female!) from all walks of life, sharing our passion for books.

Why a book club?

How many times you watched a movie or a sports game and chocked up with words for days because there was NOBODY to talk to about it?! Well that’s why we meet in this book club – to share our opinions, observations and thoughts provoked by the books we read.

Membership fees

30dhs annual fee (for 1 whole year), payable in cash on your 2nd meetup attended. This symbolic fee goes towards covering expense of having our group website on meetup.com platform.

What books do we read?

Out of a multitude of genres, we focus primarily (but not exclusively) on modern fiction. As club members democratically choose the books we are open to any book as long as members vote for it. Here's the link to our reading list (books we read in past): http://www.meetup.com/Bibliophiles-Dubai-Book-Club/pages/Reading_list/

When & Where we meet:

When: The meetups are at 6.30 pm every third Saturday (3 weeks between each session)

Where: Lime Tree Cafe on SZR (by FAB metro station). It is short walking distance from FAB metro station, there is ample parking (paid, on the street), great coffee and nice food, and most importantly, it is relatively quiet on Saturday evenings. Google maps location of Lime Tree Cafe: https://goo.gl/maps/mBMii7R6HxK2

Duration: the average session takes about 2 hours; it also depends on the number of people attending and how discussion inspiring the book is.

We discuss the books that are available in English (either translated to English from original language or written in English).

The discussions during meetups are conducted in English. (People are welcome to read the books in other languages they are familiar with but in order for all of us to understand each other the discussions are in English only. :) )

Welcome to Dubai Bibliophiles and happy reading!
