Big Beach Volleyball

The purpose of this group is to have fun! We welcome all skill levels and ages so long as you've got a good attitude. I'd say we're an intermediate to advanced court. So if you've never touched a volleyball before in your life perhaps ease into a couple games each week so as not to slow down the games for everyone else. Show up regularly, make friends, and you'll see improvement.

We play 6 vs 6 on Big Beach every Sunday. We set up the net around 3pm and we play through sunset. Rain or shine someone will almost always be there to set up the net, so please be patient with us if we're running late. We set up between 2nd and 3rd entrance - "2 1/2 entrance" will lead straight to the court.

Don't forget to bring your swim suit, towel, chair, water, sunscreen, snacks, and drinks.

COURT RULES - To keep things light and fun we have a few extra rules.

1. If a serve is not going to make it over the net, players from your team can utilize soccer rules (headers, knees, and an occasional bicycle kick) to get the ball over and continue the game. Unlimited touches but no doubles, the same player cannot touch it twice in a row to get it over.

2. If after 3 "regular" touches the ball is not going to make it over the net, players from your team can again utilize soccer rules to get the ball over and keep the game going. This takes a second to get used to, but it adds to the fun.

3. We ask everyone to keep drinking and/or smoking as an off-court activity. Please refrain from bringing alcohol containers onto the court or smoking mid game.

4. We discourage the use of vulgar language or crude humor.

5. Unfriendly competitiveness is not welcome.
