Data Masters and Big Data Folk!

This meetup is proudly sponsored by MapR, Wednesday November 19th, 2014 (6pm) at Blix Spaces, Level 2 of 283 Normanby Road, Port Melbourne.

Topic of the Night – ‘Drill' by MapR (Tomer Shiran, founder and PMC member of Apache Drill).

Sponsor of the night is once again our friends at MapR, their 2nd sponsorship (look fwd to many to come) on all things big data with a side of pizza & beer on Wednesday November 19th.

Synopsis

Apache Drill's schema-free approach makes it radically easier to analyze structured and semi-structured data, wherever it is. You'll leave this meetup with the knowledge and tools to explore, analyze and visualize the data in your Hadoop and NoSQL environments. If you're not already using Hadoop, this meetup will help you understand how you can leverage your existing skills with Hadoop so that can you start riding the Hadoop wave right away.

More on Tomer

Tomer Shiran, founder and PMC member of Apache Drill, will demonstrate how to explore and analyze real-world data using popular open source technologies such as Apache Drill, Hadoop and MongoDB. Tomer will demonstrate how to explore local business data from Yelp to understand user behavior and identify interesting patterns and anomalies.

.

Please invite a friend or two (or three) to join the meetup group, RSVP this meetup, participate, network, eat some pizza with a side of beer and most importantly wear your big data hat (regardless if your hat reads BDNewbie or BDGuru).

RSVP away and make sure to get in early, members are already asking about this meetup before it's even up so going to be a first in best dressed fight for seats, get their early and enjoy! :-

Cheers,
