This is an IBM sponsored Meetup group geared towards developers, data scientists, data engineers, and ALL Big Data, Cloud and AI enthusiasts. Our meetups provide an opportunity to work hands on with the solutions and tools in our Big Data portfolio and to interact and share knowledge with experts at IBM and in our extended community.
Our Meetups typically include a 45-60 min (max) presentation that serves as an introduction and overview for a specific Big Data technology. It is followed by ~3 hours to collaborate with fellow developers and apply your Big Data skills. We provide a cloud environment that you can run through the browser of your laptop at NO cost to you. Our meetups are FREE.

Sonia Singh is an IBM TechXchange Data Community Manager and held the role of Data and AI Engagement Program Manager for the IBM Ottawa Lab. Her responsibilities have included being the Canadian focal for the IBM Data Science and AI Elite team and managing the IBM Ottawa Machine Learning Hub. She created and manages the Technical Meetup Group hosted by IBM which hosts various technical topics on a weekly basis, and also manages the IBM Canada Data Science & Data Engineering Community and Guild which is internal within IBM.
With a degree in Computer Science and certifications in Project Management and Data Science, her experience includes software development, user interface design, customer research, people management, project management, operations management, data science. Her IBM tenure of 17+ years includes a Corporate Service Corps assignment in Malaysia, which provides high-performing IBMers with quality leadership development.

In this session, we will demonstrate how IBM’s Chief Privacy Office has innovated to expand its mature Privacy program into an Integrated Governance Program, adapting existing systems to address both ethical AI and privacy regulations, and move towards a continuous compliance approach.Presenters: John Bowman, Anaysha Parker
John Bowman joined IBM’s Chief Privacy Office in October 2022 as AI Ethics Market Strategy Lead. His role includes advising on enhancements to support regulatory compliance, helping to create a deployment framework, and commercialisation of select IBM CPO assets. Previously, John was a Senior Principal in Promontory, IBM Consulting; and before that John worked at the UK Ministry of Justice where he was Head of EU and International Data Protection Policy.
Anaysha Parker is a member of the Market Strategy team within IBM’s Chief Privacy Office. Over the last three years, Anaysha has specialized in AI ethics and contributed to the evolution of IBM’s AI Ethics program and use case review process. Today, she focuses on showcasing IBM’s thought leadership around data and AI governance to assist clients in similar journeys. Before working with IBM’s Chief Privacy Office, Anaysha was a transformation consultant in the US Federal Sector.
