BDM 55 - KDB+ and LinkedIn both in Montréal!

Details
Big Data Montreal would like to invite you to its 55th meeting!
Join us on Tuesday July 4th 2017 at 6:00PM to attend a conference, as well as to network with other Big Data enthusiasts from Montreal!
All are welcome, no matter if you already have some experience with Big Data technologies or if you're simply curious to learn more.
We have two presentations scheduled:
• Natural Language Processing in q by Benjamin Jeffery, q and Web Developer at Kx
“kdb+ and q are well suited to high performance vector operations. q can be used to explore natural language data sets by representing documents, clusters, keywords and concepts in a uniform vector format. Operations such as clustering, finding commonalities, and searching can then be done between disparate groups of entities.
Using a set of highly composable functions, queries can be answered such as "What other elements belong in this set?", "What do these entities have in common?", or more concretely "How are my work emails different from my personal emails?" or "Search for any emails similar to this one".
• Hardening Kafka for New Use Cases with Venice by Felix GV from LinkedIn's Data Infrastructure
Venice is a new distributed system leveraging Kafka at LinkedIn. Venice pushes the envelope of Kafka by requiring dynamic topic creation and deletion, infinite retention, and cross-DC replication with identity partitioning and strict ordering guarantees. This talk will present the Kafka configs, bug fixes and new features that made these use cases possible.
The following BigData Montréal meetup will be in September.
Finally, you are also welcome to join us for some casual networking, in the same room, after the presentations, followed by a beer in a close by location.
Please tell your friends and colleagues :) !
