“In this presentation we will show how to query data stored as parquet on Amazon S3. We will present 3 popular Big Data SQL engines and kick the tires of what they can do when they run on EC2 instances without EMR or Hadoop installed.

The 3 selected engines for this presentation are : - Facebook's Presto- Apache Impala- Apache Spark ".

• cortAIx, center of research and technology in Artificial Intelligence expertise by Philippe Molaret from Thales

How from a big buzz about AI in Montreal and Thales own internal digital transformation plan is Thales Canada answering with its own vision and cortAIx, the now officially announced center of research and technology in Artificial Intelligence and expertise. What is the supporting ecosystem, the various actors, labs and the AI technologies it covers. You will learn what motivated Thales to invest in Montreal for AI capabilities, what are the potential technologies cortAIx will develop, the typical fields where these technologies will be applied and expected ramp up of the activity in coordination with our research center in Quebec city, Thales Canada Research and Technology, and with the addition of Guavus to this mini Thales ecosystem for digital technologies in Quebec.

The following BigData Montréal meetup will be in December.

TickSmith will generously sponsor the event by provide food and drinks to the attendees!
