Looking for a fun new way to volunteer? Help seniors, children and people with disabilities get healthy exercise and feel welcome and included at dozens of fun community salsa events this summer and beyond!

Side benefit: Learn to dance salsa (or improve your moves if you already know how) and meet lots of great people who care about helping their communities!

Set-up begins at 4pm, and Clean-up ends at 9:30 pm. We need help throughout the evening, but the most important times are at the beginning and end! Come at 4pm for a brief orientation, and to get started volunteering. People who start helping at 4pm can be finished by 6pm, and can help for longer or just stay and enjoy the fun of the event! When & Where:

Monday, 4:00-9:30 pm (or a shorter block of time in the middle)

Salsa in the Park

Blackstone Community Center Courtyard (and auditorium)

On the corner of Washington & W Brookline Streets in the South End. (near Stella's & the Salvation Army)

Schedule of Meet-up:

4:00-4:15 pm Meet the directors and other volunteers that you will be working with to make this amazing event possible! Get a quick overview of how things will flow during the event.

4:15-5:30 pm Take a tour of the area we use for the event, and learn how to set up the space for safe, inclusive access for people with disabilities, seniors, small children, and the rest of the community. Set up the space. Together we will make it wonderful!

5:30-5:55 pm Meet-up/Training wraps up, and the event begins! You will train new volunteers arriving to take over for what you are doing. Then you can sign up for more volunteer shifts, or join in the lessons!

5:55-9:00 pm If you wanted to do a later shift, there's also lots to do DURING the event! Just send a message in advance to Nathan Stockwell-Velazquez, our Community Program Coordinator, and he will figure out which volunteer activities are best for you. Then you will check in with him when you arrive, and get started!

9:00-9:30 pm Clean-up Time! We need all the help we can get to pack up this special event before the building closes!

Thank you all for volunteering! Please arrive promptly at 4 pm so that we can begin on time. If you want to volunteer for a shorter block of time than the entire night, please post the shift you would like in the conversation section below. And please make sure to update your RSVP if something changes and you cannot attend.

Also, if it were up to me, I would make the Salsa dance lessons MANDATORY for the Volunteers! Ha! :) First lesson from 6:00-6:30pm, second lesson from 7:15-7:45pm. All Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of the free salsa lessons!
