Fancy a taste of cycling heaven ? Quiet, smooth country lanes ? Having taken part over the summer in an Evans organised ride around Dorking. I was so impressed with the lovely cycling around the area that i wanted it to share it with others. Here is the plan for our day.

1) take train from Clapham junction at 10.15 am . 2) arrive Dorking at 11am 3) cycle for 2 hours south of Dorking, have lunch at approx 1pm in a nice pub (1 hour) 4) cycle for approx 2 hours south of dorking return to Dorking station 5) leave Dorking at 4pm 6) arrive Clapham junction 4.45pm Road bikes are strongly recommeded for this ride as our average cycling speed will be approx 12mph, which translates as approx 16mph on flat roads and approx 8-10mph up hills. Helmets will be compulsory. In terms of difficulty from (1-5(hardest)), we would categorise this ride as difficulty level 3.

If you do own a hybrid bike and feel you will be able to keep up then you are more than welcome to join us, please email Suki for advice before you RSVP.

The total mileage including the lunch stop will be approx 45 miles.

The cost for Return train tickets is normally 10 pounds, with group discount we get them for 7 pounds.

If this event if cancelled then full refunds will be given.

For those cyclists who do not wish to do the whole route there will be a few train stations along the route, so if you wish to join us for part of the ride and then take the train back en route you are welcome to.

This meetup will be weather dependent so 12 hours before the event begins if heavy rain is forecast then the event will be cancelled, please check the website the evening before the event begins.

If you are not sure that you will be able to cope with the speed and the distance please email Suki for some advice.

It is strongly recommended that you carry a spare inner tube (& pump) in case of a puncture, lights for visibility and a light removable jacket for when the temperature drops and for rain.
