Monthly Meetup, Guest presentation by Dr Ken McGrath AGRF on DNA sequencing

Details

Alright guys, it's been a while which means we have a lot to catch up on since we first started this group. First off, on Behalf of BioQuisitive, thanks for the on going support and the support you've shown us in the past, we would not be here without it.

So Thursday June 16th at 33 Saxon St, come find us just behind the Brunswick Baths in was once a school grounds now turned into an awesome community resource called Siteworks for this presentation. We're in Work room 1 so have a look at the layout of the site HERE (http://static1.squarespace.com/static/55f78d3fe4b0e61e8a3895b8/t/571432532eeb81400003daa3/1460941399641/Siteworks+Site+Plan.pdf).

First up, we'll be giving you guys a quick update on how things have progressed since our last big meetup as well as an intro into some new meetups and events we have planned! Your feedback is always appreciated so don't hesitate to get in contact with suggestions and comments on how we can make this better!

Following updates we have a special guest in from the Australian Genome Research Facility who will be talking about DNA sequencing, it's future, exciting work happening now, and the practice of DNA barcoding.

Why is this relevant (besides just being cool)? As it turns out, Melbourne will have the chance to partake in a large international research project examining how bacteria migrate across public transport systems. Come join us on the 16th!

After this, we can head over to the Brunswick Green for some drinks and more chatting! Remember to layer, WINTER IS COMING.
