DIY CRISPR-CAS

If you are interested in what and how you can use gene technology at home, tonight is the perfect occasion to learn about it. Ruediger Trojok will introduce the latest techniques for genetic modification (CRISPR-CAS) and will discuss the legal aspects of DIY genetic engineering.

This talk is meant to prepare our upcoming workshop on DIY synthetic biology (1-4 December), during which we will clone GFP in E. Coli. Talk to us after tonight's talk if you are interested to join the first ever biohacking experiment on genetic engineering in Germany.

Presenter: Ruediger Trojok, Diplom Biologist

Ruediger studied systems and synthetic biology at the Universities of Potsdam, Copenhagen (DTU) and Freiburg. During his thesis he invented a novel contraceptive method based on genetically altered lactic acid bacteria. Since 2014 he works for the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology on the EU program Synenergene. He is currently leading Biotinkering while supporting open-source biotechnology projects related to public life, politics and the arts.
