Doors are at 7 pm. We'll meet upstairs, grab a drink, then head down together. If you can't arrive at the start that's absolutely fine - just let us know. We'll make sure newcomers can find us by being clear about who to look for and where we are in the venue. We'll be getting there early because Eyeglass featuring this group's very own James are opening the show.

The evening will be headed up by Cambridge post-metal masters THE GREY who performed an incredibly heavy yet powerfully emotive set at this year’s Arctangent Festival, and have already been announced for next year’s ATG as well as DesertFest London! Their sublimely cathartic third album KODOK was released earlier in 2025 to critical acclaim.

Joining them are Birmingham’s own sludge ridden doom merchants VOIDLURKER, who just released their stunning second record Loathe for Life in September, the aggressively crushing hardcore of HOLLOW BLESSINGS bringing their low tuned noise all the way from Cardiff.

Welcome to 2026! We thought we'd give you a few weeks of breathing room before our first big night out of the year.

Route and exact start time TBC but this at least lets you get it in your calendars. We'll hit a few bars in the city centre, making sure to end at one of the rock/metal bars we love to frequent.

Newcomers are welcome! We'll update our location in here if anyone can't be here at the start and we'll make sure we're easy to find.

On the last Thursday of the month Brum Radio's DJ Millabong hosts a monthly free event at the Night Owl, Let's Build An Alternative Network.

Each month DJ Millabong sits down to interview several interesting people involved in the local alternative music scene. - bands, promoters, academic researchers, radio hosts - anyone involved might be a guest on his stage. Members of this very group have been interviewed!

The structure of the evening is designed to allow for mixing and mingling between everyone there. Doors open at 6.30 and there's time to to talk before the first speaker, in between guest interviews, and afterwards. The Night Owl is a great pub and they put out seating facing the stage so you're not stood up all evening.

Whenever I've attended in the past there has been some great speakers so I thought I'd share an invitation to come along on here. There's several of us in the MeetUp Group who are regular attendees.
