In this third meetup of the year we will have two great talks by Ella Kaye (https://ellakaye.rbind.io/) and Carmen Aguilar García (https://carmen-aguilar.github.io/hello/).

The kind of people of Digital Natives have again offered to host the meetup but they have now moved to the Birmingham Innovation Campus (see below). Doors open at 17:30 and presentations will start at 18:00. And to celebrate the end of summer we'll have free drinks and pizza!

Presentations

1) Ella Kaye - Turning your PhD (or other project!) into an R package
Abstract: In this talk, I will try to convince you that if you have any of your own data or write any of your own R functions, then you should put them into an R package. Benefits include reproducibility and keeping everything together and accessible. Also, it’s really easy to do, and to prove it, I will build a package from scratch before your very eyes. I will also introduce the `bookdown` package for writing reports and even your thesis. Filled with tips and tricks from my own experiences, this talk could save you hours!

2) Carmen Aguilar García - The wonderful world of data journalism

The location of the meetup is room 0.17 of the Birmingham Innovation Campus (Holt Street, Birmingham B7 4BB). Drinks and food (pizza!) will be provided.
