I have met with people interested in leading and will be setting up two groups. Eventually, this may split into two meetups-Bishop Arts Bibles and Brews and Garland Bibles and Brews with us coming together once a month for a service project or group fellowship. Bibles and Brews will be a community bible study focused on getting people to come together in a relaxed atmosphere (coffee shops, breweries, pubs, etc) to talk about the Bible. My plan is to focus on west central Dallas (Bishop Arts/design district) and a second group in Garland that will eventually branch out with co-organizers starting new chapters in other parts of town. If you are interested in joining and being notified of when we have our first meeting, great! Please do join! However, I am in the development phase and seeking coorganizers at this point. Our goal is to get people together to talk about the Word in an accessible way. To this aim, we will be:
Interdenominational-we are not affiliated with any particular denomination and people from all backgrounds are welcome.
Open-everyone is welcome no matter their race, gender, sexuality, marital status, church affiliation, or age. Comments that make anyone feel unwelcome will not be tolerated.
Relaxed-members may come as they are able. They will be asked to RSVP to allow for adequate space to be found but will not be expected to attend every meeting. Organizers will come with a topic or verse and facilitating questions but, ideally, the conversation will be member led and would be able to continue if a week occurred in which no organizer was able to attend.
