Are you a developer and interested in Bitcoin and the Lightning Network in particular?

Get a free one-day training (worth about 0.1 Bitcoin) to learn about Bitcoin and its instant transfer payment system, the Lightning Network. Depending on the speed of our learning group we will also do some live coding and help you to build your first small web application on top of the Lightning Network.

While this event is free of charge, we have limited space and not everyone can attend.

I want to make sure that you have some basic skills as a developer. In order to be given one of the 20 spots you need to have downloaded, compiled and installed bitcoin from https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin and a lightning network implementation (preferably https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning/)

Now comes the crucial part: Demonstrate to me that you have done so. Check https://ln.rene-pickhardt.de to get the pubkey of my lightning network node and peer your node with my node.

To do so, start `lightningd` and check `lightning-cli getinfo` as well as `lightning-cli connect` as well as the manpages `lightning-cli help` or `lightning-cli help connect`.

I don't require you to own bitcoin and open a channel with my node. Just open a peer connection.

Send me a message or email r.pickhardt@gmail.com. The subject should start with [LN Workshop], including your lightning network node pubkey. In case you have a github account, please also include it in the mail. Once I verify that you managed to peer with my node, I will accept you to the event. Computer science students will be especially welcome. It will also help if you provide two to three sentences why you want to participate and what motivates you.

To get most out of the event, I suggest that you prepare by checking out my Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/RenePickhardt

The Event starts at 10 am, doors will open at 9:30 am.

While this event is free to celebrate the Lightning Conference http://www.thelightningconference.com it will be quite some work for me. I encourage anyone (wether you participate in the event or not) to donate to my fundrasier which I use for educational purposes at:

Big thanks to cryptomonday for providing the location and soda free of charge!

Note: PLease RSVP to be accepted on the waiting list. I'll manually review your participation as described above.
