Bitcoin Privacy - Stephan Livera & Ketan Gulabdas

Details
Come and join our monthly Bitcoin meetup at Harpoon Harry's - a popular Cuban themed bar publico.
Much confusion reigns as to the extent to which transactions on the Bitcoin network are private and anonymous.
Both detractors and proponents have made the following often contradictory claims about Bitcoin:
- The anonymity it provides facilitates illicit transactions and allows one to have a "Swiss Bank account in their pocket"
- The open ledger nature of its blockchain makes every transaction public and traceable and therefore not a facilitator of illicit transactions
- The trace-ability of Bitcoin threatens its fungibility as a currency and the privacy of its users.
Many privacy focused altcoins sprung up in the last few years with the intention of cornering this niche but this was never territory Bitcoin ceded and development work has been ongoing to address them in a manner that is secure and sustainable.
At this event we will have two of Australia's foremost experts on this topic sort out the contradictions and bring us up to speed on all of the latest developments to the Bitcoin protocol that address this very important issue.
Stephan and Ketan will also be launching their Ministry of Nodes educational initiative. https://www.ministryofnodes.com.au/
