Please join us for an opportunity to create ongoing culturally responsive resources, support, and advocacy for Black/African descent LGBTQIA+ families in the L.A. area. Parents, caregivers, educators, and other community members are welcome to attend. Zoom link will be provided to members who RSVP (All times are PST). This agenda will focus on an upcoming May parent and Black youth roundtable, trainings and outreach

“We See You”: A Dialogue with Black Queer Youth featuring Jodie Patterson

An intergenerational discussion between Black parent-caregivers from L.A.’s Black LGBTQI+ Parent and Caregiver Group and Black GSA youth about love, engagement and allyship strategies to strengthen community support for Black queer youth, pushing back against the national climate of homophobia, transphobia, misogynoir and anti-LGBTQ+ religious discrimination. The discussion will feature bestselling author and Human Rights Campaign Board Director, Jodie Patterson. Ms. Patterson is the author of The Bold World: A Memoir of Family and Transformation , a groundbreaking book: “Inspired by her transgender son, activist Jodie Patterson explores identity, gender, race, and authenticity to tell the real-life story of a family’s history and transformation”.
