Black Nonbelievers Presents: A Black Family Discussion about Christianity, White Supremacy, and True Liberation
As we continue to fight against inequality in the United States and beyond, there's no better time to examine the role of religion (Christianity in particular) in establishing racist practices and systems that have impacted Black communities. We must also critically ask if religious belief is helpful or a hindrance to true liberation.
Panelists will Include:
- Dr. Anthea Butler, author and Professor at the University os Pennsylvania
- Jeremiah Camara, author and film maker (Holy Hierarchy: The Religious Roots of Racism in America)
- Dr. Sabrina Dent, Senior Faith Adviser for American United for Separation of Church and State
- Dr. Sikivu Hutchinson, author and founder of Black Skeptics Los Angeles, and the Women's Leadership Project.
- Danile Rogiers, musician and Lead Organizer for the Washington, D.C. affiliate of Black Nonbelievers
- Dr. Alphonso Saville IV, current Andrew W. Mellon postdoctorate fellow for American Religion and Slavery at Georgetown University
- Charles Watson Jr., Director of Education at the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty
