What we’re about

Black Orlando Tech aka B.O.T. is a creative community building group dedicated to fostering collaboration, creativity, and contribution to minorities in Technology within the Central Florida community.

The African American community across a number of regions within the United States exhibits certain challenges including (1) the underrepresentation of minorities within tech related fields within academia, career, and entrepreneurialism; (2) the lack of a social and community infrastructure focused on improving the socio-economic status of minorities within the Central Florida area; and (3) the limited amount of STEM and tech related pipeline focused programs to encourage individuals to pursue technology related fields.

Our Vision is simply to train and inspire 10,000 minorities in Central FL to enter tech by 2025. In doing so B.O.T. hopes to grow our audience exponentially; creating more awareness of the make-up of Orlando’s BOOMING technology community as well as serving as a window to job opportunities there and by building a more diverse workforce.
